Nostromo

Nostromo, a small family-run hotel with its restaurant of the same name, is sought-after by food lovers and can be found in the old city centre of Rabac. The restaurant was founded in 1993, was significantly renovated in 1999. Hotel Nostromo is also open year-round and offers half-board, breakfast and dinner.

At the Nostromo Restaurant, where the story of our small family-run hotel began, you can treat your taste buds to the creative and delicious dishes that have made this restaurant famous and are the reason why the restaurant has been included in numerous domestic and foreign food guides over the past few years. During each season you will find fresh foods on your table, including those from the sea, direct from Rabac Cove or nearby. We also offer a rich assortment of wines and top-quality olive oils made by renowned Istrian producers. Original, creative, fresh, home-made and autochthonous – this is the cuisine you will find at Nostromo.

Accommodation

Spaciousness, comfort and a warm, homey feeling are achieved partially through our choice of furniture, reminiscent of that of our grandmothers’, and this is only one of the virtues of the accommodations with which Hotel Nostromo enriches Rabac. The hotel has a total of 8 accommodation units, rooms and apartments (suites), which are located above the restaurant on the building’s upper floors. The rooms’ special charm comes from the view they offer of Rabac Cove and of the Waterfront, the pulse of this destination. Taking in relaxing sunsets from the balcony will be ‘spiced’ by the scent of the sea and Mediterranean flora. All the rooms are comfortable and include a shower, central heating, air conditioning, satellite TV, hair dryer, safe and wireless internet.

Rabac

In the mid-19th century Rabac was a small fishing settlement which was first discovered in the second half of the 19th century by tourists who visited mostly because of Rabac’s natural beauty. Among them was British travel-writer and literary Richard Francis Burton who visited Rabac in 1876 and wrote about it in his book “The Istrian Coast”. It is at this time the first summer homes were builtm while Rabac’s first hotel, “Quarnero”, was opened on 11th June 1889 in the home of the Višković family located in the old city centre. The construction of the first large hotel occurred in 1925 when hotel “Trieste”, known today as “Primorje” was built in Rabac. The growth of tourism in the area increased during the 1960s when most of the current hotels were built and when Rabac was awarded the title “Pearl of Kvarner”.
